Adventuring Sydneyside: Watsons Bay and The Gap

It’s officially Autumn in Australia. Not that you’d know from the weather though. It’s still seasonably warm and the sun has even started to make more frequent visits. We took advantage of a beautiful sunny Saturday to check out Watsons Bay in Woollahra.

Watsons Bay

Doyles is a popular beachfront destination

Watsons Bay is in eastern Sydney on the South Head peninsula. It’s largely a residential area with some spectacular(ly expensive) homes. A quick ferry ride from Circular Quay will drop you right at the beach, but the big draw at Watsons Bay is the fantastic views of Sydney as well as the ocean cliffs, known as ‘The Gap’, which faces the Tasman Sea.

This little guy found a nice spot!

The Gap sits next to part of the Sydney Harbour National Park. The water views are still spectacular from the park, and  you also get a nice view of the native flora and fauna that is hard to come by in the city.

Our (paved) walking path

The Banksia. Aboriginal people used smoldering Banksia cones to carry fire across long distances.
