Adventuring Sydneyside: OUTPOST PROJECT at Cockatoo Island

One of Sydney Harbour’s largest islands,Cockatoo Island has been a shipyard, imperial prison and reformatory to name just a few of its incarnations. However, at present the island is home to the OUTPOST PROJECT, a celebration of art from the streets:

Cockatoo Island’s vast abandoned factories and intriguing forgotten alleyways are the perfect backdrop for projects showcasing the energy and diversity of Street Art. With OUTPOST PROJECT, visitors will be able to see a huge range of Street Art in one location. (source)

On Sunday I took the ferry from Circular Quay to take in some art and it was well worth the trip. The OUTPOST PROJECT was fabulous, and if you’re in the Sydney area I’d consider it a must see (the exhibitions run through December 11th). For those that can’t see it in person, I’ve posted bunches of shots on Flickr. Enjoy!
